The future of quality

The P in E.P.I.C is for People You Misunderstood

The no. 1 challenge quality leaders are facing is driving people to care enough about quality – whether these are the people from the corner office or the manufacturing floor, you want them to engage. It was true for traditional quality systems, and super relevant for the future of work (remember, technology is only an enabler. You still have to step up and go E.P.I.C).

Now, save yourself a lot of time and frustration by understanding a simple truth.

It’s not them. It’s you.

Ask yourself, do you fully understand your environment? What are people expecting from quality and of you?

The reality is different people see quality under different prism. Management would aim for different deliverables than the operational or design team. Chances are that your words and actions did not fit into their expectations about quality. So basically, it’s not the organization mindset, it’s yours.

Set a meeting with one group and ask them:
What is quality for you? What are you expect the quality team to do differently? Listen more, talk less. You might be surprised.
